The Executive of the Sierra Leone Students Union in Riyadh paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Ambassador Mohammed S. Barrie at the Chancery office in Riyadh on Thursday
Sheikh Umaru Jalloh, Vice President of the Sierra Leone Students Union in Riyadh, informed Ambassador Barrie that they came to present a gift received from the administration of Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University during the commemoration of the 3rd edition of the International Students Day. The event aimed to showcase the cultural heritage of students from across the world.
“We proudly showcased the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Sierra Leone, from traditional attire to local crafts and cuisine. The Sierra Leone booth captured attention and admiration, presenting our nation as a land of cultural vibrance, peace, and a friendly country with beautiful touristic sites for visit and investment,” Sheikh Jalloh said.
He stated that the University authorities recognized countries whose Missions had been patronizing the event, and Sierra Leone was recognized as one of the countries whose Embassy had been supportive of their students during the 1st and 2nd editions of the International Students Day. A gift was given to the Ambassador of Sierra Leone, which the Union body received on his behalf.
Ambassador Barrie expressed appreciation to the authorities of Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University for the thought and the students’ body for receiving and bringing the gift. He encouraged the students’ Union to focus on their studies and serve as role models while pursuing their studies in the Kingdom, noting that they are Ambassadors of Sierra Leone.
“My office is always open to you. Feel free to reach out, as this Mission is here to serve you,” he assured.
Ambassador Barrie encouraged the students to diversify in their various studies and focus on courses that align with the Human Capital Development of Sierra Leone of His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio to enable them to quickly enroll or attract the job market of Sierra Leone upon their return.
Also present at the meeting were Ishiaka Jalloh, First Secretary of the Embassy and the Cultural Attaché, Alhaji Ibrahim Koi-Dowui.
