Riyadh, May 7, 2026 -The Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E Ulukbek Maripov, on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Ambassador Mohammed Barrie at the Sierra Leone Chancery in Riyadh.
In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Barrie expressed appreciation to Ambassador Maripov for the visit and reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations with the Kyrgyz Republic.
During the meeting, Ambassador Maripov said that the Kyrgyz Republic is contesting for a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council for the 2027-2028 term, during the elections scheduled for June 2026 in New York. He added that his visit was to solicit Sierra Leone’s support for his country’s bid.
Ambassador Barrie thanked his counterpart for the visit and assured him that he would channel the request to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Sierra Leone. The two diplomats also discussed issues of mutual interest aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between Sierra Leone and the Kyrgyz Republic.
