H.E. Ambassador Mohammed S. Barrie Pays Courtesy Call on Chinese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, Sunday, 19 January 2025 – Sierra Leone’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), His Excellency Mohammed S. Barrie paid a courtesy call on the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Chang Hua.

In his statement, Ambassador Barrie conveyed greetings from His Excellency President, Dr Julius Maada Bio, the government, and the people of Sierra Leone. He commended China for its support in education, infrastructure, and during the Ebola and COVID-19 pandemics.

“As the new ambassador of my country, I am here to strengthen the brotherhood between Sierra Leone and China,” Ambassador Barrie said. “You are the first major country I have decided to visit, and I request your unwavering support and guidance.”

In response, His Excellency Chang Hua commended Ambassador Barrie and his entourage for their visit and pledged his mission’s commitment to cooperation and collaboration on mutual interests.

China and Sierra Leone have enjoyed deep diplomatic relations since 29 July 1971. Over the past 48 years, bilateral relations have developed smoothly, with close high-level exchanges, deep political mutual trust, and fruitful cooperation in economic, social, and cultural fields.

Ambassador Barrie was accompanied by Deputy Ambassador of Mission Mr Abdul Aziz Turay, Counsellor Mohamed Victor Kamara, First Secretary Mamodu Bai Sesay, and Information Attaché Abubakarr Bah
