Final Batch of 283 Sierra Leonean-based Hajj Pilgrims Depart for Freetown

The second and final batch of 283 Sierra Leonean home-based pilgrims departed King Abdulaziz International Airport Hajj and Umrah Terminal for Freetown on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 11:45 KSA Time following the completion of the 1446/2025 Hajj in Makkah. The pilgrims arrived at the Freetown International Airport in Lungi on Wednesday at around 4pm local time.

Some pilgrims expressed happiness to return home and meet with their families after a successful Hajj.

Haja Ramatulie Barrie and Haja Fatmata Koroma thanked their children for funding their pilgrimage and shared that they made special prayers for peace and prosperity in Sierra Leone.

The Embassy of Sierra Leone and representatives of the Sierra Leone Nationals Union worked closely with the Presidential Hajj Taskforce to ensure a smooth and successful Hajj experience.

Deputy Ambassador Alhaji Abdul Aziz Turay thanked Allah for the success and expressed gratitude to President Dr. Julius Maada Bio, Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, and others involved.

Chairman of the Presidential Hajj Taskforce, Alhaji Murtada Sesay, highlighted the progress made in alleviating Hajj challenges and announced plans to restructure the Taskforce to attain excellence in future pilgrimages.

A total of 2100 Sierra Leonean pilgrims performed the pilgrimage this year. They include 600 home-based pilgrims, 1,400 from the diaspora, and 100 who were guests of the Saudi Government.
