World Assembly of Muslim Youth Pledges to Support Bio’s Free Quality Education

As a way of soliciting support for His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio’s Free Quality Education (FQE), the Ambassador of Sierra Leone to Saudi Arabia, Dr. Ibrahim Jalloh has engaged the Secretary General of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY).

WAMY is an international Islamic educational and Youth organization whose purpose is to preserve the identity of Muslim youth and help overcome the problems they face in modern society.

During the meeting, Dr. Jalloh informed the Secretary General that the Government of Sierra Leone, under the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio had made human capital development through free and equal access to quality education as one of his flagship projects. He said the President believed that quality education would strengthen the country’s human resource capital to meet the growing social and technological revolution in a globalized world.

He further underscored the need for international educational organizations such as WAMY to support the socio-educational development of Sierra Leone. In that vein, His Excellency Ambassador Jalloh requested for WAMY’s intervention in the following areas:

-support the free quality education programme through the construction of modern classrooms, staff offices and bathrooms, -Support to the school feeding programme through the provision of food baskets for pupils in the rural areas -Support to the Islamic/ Arabic education unit at the Ministry of Education through the provision of office furniture, computers and IT accessories etc -Support to the Arabic unit at Fourah Bay College, through the provision of a language lab, Arabic and Islamic Studies library, and the implementation of exchange programmes between the unit and language departments of universities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia among others.

On his part, WAMY’s Secretary General, His Excellency Dr. Saleh Sulaiman Al Wahaibi assured Ambassador Jalloh of his cooperation in the implementation of these projects.

Ambassador Jalloh was accompanied by the Deputy Chief of Mission, Ambassador Mohamed Hassan Koroma, the First Secretary, Mohamed Sulaiman Sankoh and Abu Bakarr S. Bah, the Information Attaché.
