The new Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), His Excellency Mohammed S. Barrie, on Sunday, 29th December 2024 paid a courtesy call on the Dean of the African Group Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cameroon to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the OIC, His Excellency Iya Tidjani.
The two top diplomats discussed issues of mutual interest for the two countries, the OIC and Africa, in general.
His Excellency Ambassador Tidjani proffered series of advice relating to concerns and the rift that normally occur between the various Hajj Committees and their African Missions in the Kingdom with respect to the Hajj.
“We were part of this problem. However, His Excellency President Paul Biya addressed it by appointing me as Chief of the Hajj Mission. Since then, things have been working for our pilgrims. The KSA Hajj ministry has also made it easier for the Hajj Missions to pay and secure tents in Mina ahead of time, and we have already done that. In practice, if you have not done so, I advise that your country should try to do so,” Ambassador Tidjani advised.
On his part, Ambassador Barrie commended his counterpart for sharing his experiences and advice.
Ambassador Barrie was accompanied by the Deputy Ambassador of Mission, Mr. Abdul Aziz Turay, the Acting Head of Chancery, Counsellor Mohamed Victor Kamara, First Secretary, Mamodu Bai Sesay, and the Information Attaché, Abubakarr Bah.
