AMBASSADOR DR. IBRAHIM JALLOH PRESENTS LETTERS OF CREDENCE TO HIS MAJESTY, THE SULTAN OF OMAN

 

 

The Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sierra Leone accredited to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency Dr. Ibrahim Jalloh on Thursday, 18th February, 2021 presented his Letters of Credence to His Majesty, Sultan of the Sultanate of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq Al Said.

The Ambassador was accompanied by the Minister Plenipotentiary and Head of Chancery, Mr. Ibrahim V. Kondoh.

Presenting his Credentials to His Majesty, Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, Ambassador Jalloh conveyed kind sentiments from His Excellency the President, Government and People of the Republic of Sierra Leone to His Majesty and people of the Sultanate of Oman. The Ambassador expressed President Bio’s vision of strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.

In his response, the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq Al Said congratulated His Excellency, Dr. Ibrahim Jalloh on his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary. The Sultan thanked His Excellency for accrediting a person like Ambassador Jalloh noting that his knowledge in the Arabic language would make his diplomatic job easier in the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia respectively. His Majesty articulated his vision and wishes for stronger bilateral relations between the two countries.

Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, 16th February, 2021, Ambassador Jalloh also presented copies of his Letters of Credence to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency Mr. Badr Al-Busaidi.

Delivering copies to the Minister, Dr. Jalloh conveyed the goodwill wishes of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Madam Nabeela Farida Tunis and exchanged pleasantries deviating from the normal diplomatic warmth and sticked to the rules of the Covid-19 Pandemic before settling down by the side of the Minister.

Ambassador Jalloh spoke of his visit to the Sultanate relating to the beauty of the city and hospitality accorded him by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He expressed thanks and appreciation to the Minister for the usual traditional hospitality extended to him by the people of Oman during his arrival in Muscat.

Ambassador Jalloh dwelt on several issues hinging on the growth of the bilateral relations between the two countries in the areas of:

• Regularize the status of Sierra Leoneans in Oman with regard to employment by engaging both Governments to develop mechanisms such as Memorandum of Understanding [MOU] in relation to the implementation of International Labor Laws dealing with security, protection and general welfare of other nationals in their work places.

• Address the plight of some Sierra Leoneans serving as maids at the hands of their sponsors in Oman.
